Attendance for Credit

Your scholar may owe hours to make up for absences.

According to state law, in order to receive credit or a final grade for a class, a student is required to attend class 90 percent of the days class is offered regardless of whether the student's absences are excused [see Dallas ISD Policy FEA] or unexcused. Atty. Gen. Op. JC-0398 (2001).

Dallas ISD Board Policy FEC (Regulation) states: When a student's attendance drops below 90 percent but remains at least at 75 percent of the days the class is offered and earns a passing grade, the student may earn credit or a final grade for the class by completing a plan approved by the principal that provides for the student to meet the instructional requirements of the class. Students must be passing the classes for which they are attempting to restore credit. This list may not include classes for which your student has already failed to earn credit. You will be contacted separately in that case.

Opportunities will be offered after school (4:00-5:00) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and on select Saturdays by appointment. We cannot guarantee any transportation. Meals will be provided after school.

Below are your scholars' specific requirements in order to ensure they advance to the next grade.
